Paul Ambach, better known worldwide as Boogie Boy, is a Belgian rhythm & blues pianist, singer, and showman born in 1948 near Antwerp.
Over the past four decades, he has built a unique dual legacy as both a high-energy performer and a pioneering concert promoter.
Deeply inspired by Ray Charles and classic American R&B, Boogie Boy became renowned for his explosive piano style and powerful “blues shouter” vocals.
Emerging on stage in the early 1980s with his band The Woogies, he quickly earned a reputation as one of Europe’s most charismatic live entertainers.
He has performed at major festivals across the continent including North Sea Jazz, Jazz at Juan les Pins, Ronnie Scott’s in London, Ashford & Simpson legendary Sugar Bar in New York, The Blue Note Jazz Clubs in China. Sharing the stage with legends including B.B. King and John Lee Hooker.
Behind the scenes, Paul Ambach helped shape the modern Belgian live music industry through his company Make It Happen, bringing global superstars such as The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, and Prince to Belgium. His cultural impact was formally recognized in 1997 when he was named Cultural Ambassador of Flanders.
In addition to performing worldwide including the Europe, the U.S, South Africa and the middle East. He served as a jury member on Belgium’s Got Talent (2012–2013).
Today, Boogie Boy remains celebrated as a tireless blues showman and a true pioneer of the Belgian concert business. He has released only a few albums his first vinyl live in Singapore, second studio album in 1991, live in Paris dvd and written a book entitled Boogie Business.
Lately he has been recording live in the studio with Blues legend John Primer for a new album ‘Lay Down the Blues’ of which his first single ‘Got My Mojo Workin’ was released last year with 2 sold-out concerts at the Axel Vervoordt amphitheater in Antwerp.
In 2026 he embarked on his 7th Asia tour performing at prestigious jazz clubs such as The Blue Note and The Lincoln Center in cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Tokyo, Japan continuing to built up the anticipation to the release of his new album and 80 year birthday concert in his home town of Antwerp.
